Autumn is the end of our season here at Boulder Adventures, it means waterproofs and woolly hats instead of t-shirts and wetsuits, it means maintenance of our Watersports Centre, Mountain Centre and our woodland as the outdoor activities side of our business slows down.
This gives us time to reflect and be grateful for the amazing summer we have had. Thanks to all of the customers (lots of whom were delayed from 2020) who have made it to us this summer season.
It was well worth upgrading the facilities at the Padarn Watersports Centre earlier in the year, hiring the Sit-on-top Kayaks on Llyn Padarn was very popular with people exploring the area, Llanberis was full of fun-seekers during the lovely sunny summer.
Winter will give us some time for improving the self-catering accommodation, we plan to upgrade the kitchen and drying room, decorate the bedrooms and make the house a cosy place for groups to stay.
For the rest of November any remaining dates are available with a 10% discount.
We will also be giving the woodland continued attention, COP26 in Glasgow is re-highlighting the importance of habitat diversity. Over the last few years we planted many trees in our grounds and the hedgerows surrounding the property are much improved and seem to be supporting plenty of wildlife. So we will continue to maintain and improve these while clearing the many leaves that will fall over the next few weeks as we march towards winter 2022 and all the adventures next year will bring for the groups visiting Boulder Adventures, Llanberis.
Prior to our reopening for the May Bank Holiday weekend which has a promising weather forecast we have undergone a refurbishment of the the Padarn Watersports Centre. We are sure those of you who have visited before will see the improvements with a new boat racking system, improved changing rooms and showers. If you have not been to the centre before we offer kayak hire on Llyn Padarn with Snowdonia as our backdrop. We also run adventure activities such as coasteering, gorge scrambling, canoeing and rock climbing. You can find us beside the lake just off the Slate Museum car park in the beautiful Padarn Country Park.
Self-Catered accommodation is currently available at the Bryn Du Mountain Centre. Now we have moved to alert level 0 we do not have restrictions on number for exclusive use groups.
Kayak Hire from the Padarn Water Sports Centre is operating but not every day, we recommend pre booking and definitely checking we are open before just turning up.
Adventure Activities are available to private groups please see the individual pages for specific information.
Pre booking and payment is strongly preferred for all services to enable social distancing and reduce physical interactions. We will also be asking in advance for contact details of all of those visiting us to aid any Track and Trace should we become aware of any customers or staff becoming unwell.
Email is going to be the most reliable way to contact us due to reduced staffing numbers and limited office access.
As Coronavirus develops we will continue to take advice from official sites as they are updated. We will in turn update any changes for customers in delivering our services on this page.
As practical steps in reducing the spread of Coronavirus we would expect customers to read and heed official government advice and steps to take if you suspect illness.
Ditching in-course transport, let’s just walk places.
We are pretty lucky with our location here in Llanberis; we think it puts us in a position to be less reliant on vehicles to deliver our courses. Probably the right thing to do if we would like to think of ourselves as ambassadors for the outdoor environment.
We can walk to the lake to swim and canoe, we can walk to the crag to climb, we can walk to the quarries to abseil and the path up Snowdon starts in our village.
We want to prove this is a good idea thus a positive way to go about outdoor education and want to offer some special prices to encourage schools and youth groups to try it out.
We realise it still isn’t perfect but small steps literally in the right direction have to help.
We have two weeks this summer when you can stay at the Bryn Du Mountain Centre, Llanberis to try this out.
Monday 29th June – Thursday 2nd July 2020, Fully Catered at £180pp
Monday 3rd August – Thursday 6th August 2020, Self-Catered at £150pp.
Day 1 – Arrive for 1pm followed by afternoon lake swim
Now is the time to get school and college trips confirmed (if you haven’t already) for 2019/20 academic year at Boulder Adventures. If you are returning this will be an easy process, we no doubt have your dates pencilled in and understand your programme needs. If a new customer, please get in touch. We will have a number of questions for you as we do not do “off the peg” this ensures we deliver what you want.
Things we will need to know:
How many of you?
How long you want to stay with us, two nights is enough for some others stay for a whole week?
Catered or self-catered, some groups like the simple option of Boulder Adventures organising the food others like the group to take on the personal responsibility?
How are you traveling to us? Do you need picking up from the train station? Will a coach be dropping you off? Will you have your own minibus that can be used to get to the activities?
Do you want Boulder Adventures to fill the whole trip or do you want some days to run your own visits?
Why are you visiting us? We are sure it is to have fun but there are of course many other benefits to consider. To develop new skills such as learning to read a map, to grow resilience, to build a team, promote leadership or grow confidence in problem solving ability.
We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming your group to our centre.
We have just had a great week with a group of cadets. Amazing weather for some big mountain days. Other activities during the week included: gorge scrambling, rock climbing, raft building, abseiling and canoeing.
Last week we had a great bunch of students in from Tudor Grange Academy. They were a really worthwhile group who put in loads of effort to make the most of the opportunity having won the Alpkit Foundation competition for a free residential with us.
The students went rock climbing, canoeing, gorge scrambling and climbed Snowdon with us.
The last two weeks of January have seen Boulder Adventures delivering six Prince’s Trust Team programs. Intended to challenge the teams and the weather has certainly added to that challenge. With the temperatures dropping and the snow coming down the teams have had some spectacular scenes for the adventures and worked hard to prove what they can achieve together
It’s been a busy start to the year with plenty of guests staying at the centre already. Last week we had the first school trip of the year visiting Llanberis taking part in Rock Climbing, Raft Building, Gorge Scrambling, Canoeing and a Snowdon Day. If you are still looking to book an adventure to Snowdonia in 2019 please get in touch as we have some slots remaining.
For bookings and information please phone or email us.
We try very hard to make sure we are selling the right event or course to our
clients. We pride ourselves on delivering the correct adventure for you.
Our office is typically staffed from 9.30 to 4.30 Monday to Saturday for bookings and enquiries, but please try outside of these times as we do keep some variable hours and staff will often be available to help.
