Environmental Impact
At Boulder Adventures we recognise that our business activities will have an impact on our environment in many ways, many of which we have yet to become fully aware of. Consequently, we think that it is responsible to recognise that we are not perfect but should make an effort to improve the way we do things for everybody’s benefit. After all, we want the outdoors to carry on being great for all our future guests, so it makes sense to maintain it.
Some of the things we have already done:
Most of our staff have now spent time in the gorges we use, with staff from the Countryside Council for Wales. We are now able to identify many of the species that are protected in the SSSI’s and SAC’s that we often work in. This means that as a company, we are less likely to inflict damage to any nationally rare or scarce species that make the gorges in North Wales so important.
As of 2009 the entire Bryn Du Mountain Centre has been re-roofed. As part of this ongoing work the whole centre has been reinsulated throughout, preventing unnecessary heat loss. This benefits our customers by having a warmer building and us by lowering our heating bill.
We have made an effort to introduce new local venues every year we have been operating. This has two main benefits environmentally. Firstly it means less wear and tear, namely erosion on the venues we are already using and gives more time for these venues to recover. Secondly we have reduced the journey times, saving diesel in our vans. We now offer more exciting venues with less journey time.
Push button showers are fitted throughout the shower block to help control water consumption. This is not always the most highly regarded decision we have taken but saving water and the energy to heat the water is the way forward.
